From Albany State University:
ALBANY, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams (9-2, 7-0 SIAC) ended their season with a 23-7 loss to the University of West Georgia Wolves at the Albany State Coliseum. ASU finished with a balanced offensive attack, but was not able to put it in the end zone on the Wolves enough.
Quarterback Dionte Bonneau threw for 133 yards on the day, while the Golden Rams picked up 154 yards on the ground. The Rams were barely edged by UWG in first downs, with a 21-17 margin, but the Golden Rams simply couldn’t convert their gains to offensive scores.
Isaiah McCray carried the load for ASU ending with 100 yards rushing on 20 carries. McCray also led the Golden Rams in receptions with four catches for 35 yards.
Coemba Jones led the ASU defense with 9 total tackles, with 6 of them being solo tackles. Arinze Okwu had eight tackles, six solo and two assists. Stephan Pierre finished the game with 7 tackles.
West Georgia got on the scoreboard as Tay Huff took a fumble recovery in from 76 yards out for the score. Jace Jordan took it in for the second score with less than a minute to go in the quarter. Tyray Dezevin scored on a 7-yard run with 5:03 remaining in the half to give the Wolves a 20-0 lead going into the half. In the third quarter, Omar Cervantes kicked a 25-yard field goal to conclude the scoring for UWG. Kristian Grant hauled in a 2-yard pass from Bonneau for the Golden Rams’ only score.
